The summer semester is coming to an end, but that doesn't mean you can't cross a few more fun activities off of your list! Whether taking classes, knocking out an internship, or enjoying the summer heat, there is plenty to do in Rexburg during the remainder of the break.
Summer is all about experiencing new things and basking in warmer days. It's about ice cream runs and courtyard barbeques. Summer days are long, but most agree that the break passes too quickly.
If you are unsure what summer fun or entertainment Rexburg offers, you've come to the right place. We've asked several BYU-Idaho students to give us their list of fun Rexburg summer activities. And your fellow students have spoken! If you spend your summer at the Cedars in Rexburg, you're in luck! Here are some of the best summer activities that the small town has to offer:
Have Fun at the Park
Rexburg has three major parks: Nature Park, Smith Park, and, of course, Porter Park. Each one comes with a handful of fun activities and attractions.
Nature Park
If you're looking for a place to enjoy the outdoors, this park is the one for you. Located on the north side of town, next to the Madison County Fairgrounds, Nature Park is famous for its pond, trails, and more.
The park has four gated pickleball courts, two playgrounds, a disc golf course, a skate park, and a dog park. It also boasts several benches and picnic areas. Whether you want to play pickleball, birdwatch, or try out your skateboarding skills, this park is a great place to spend a summer day.
Smith Park
On the east side of town, just north of BYU-Idaho, Smith Park feels like a classic small-town neighborhood park. With a baseball field, several pavilions, basketball courts, tennis courts, and a playground, it offers a variety of fun activities and green space.
Rexburg's Veterans Freedom Memorial is located on the park's eastern side. The tribute honors locals who fought during the Civil War, World War I, World War II, and other American-involved wars.
Whether you're looking for a quiet day of reflection or want to hit the basketball court with friends, this park might be the place to make some summer memories.
Porter Park
The most popular spot in Rexburg, Porter Park, is located in the city's heart and is a short five-minute walk from the Cedars. This park offers a splash pad, carousel, basketball court, tennis courts, pavilions, amphitheater, hammocking and picnic areas, a playground, and a wide open green space. Porter Park is a great option if you're looking for a close outdoor destination.
Get to Know the Community with Rexburg Arts
Rexburg Arts is the community's cultural initiative. During the summer, the Romance Theatre and Rexburg Tabernacle will host several community performances and plays promoted and produced through the Rexburg Arts program. Take advantage of art classes, theatre programs, and other community events with Rexburg Arts this summer.
Enjoy a Night Out
Rexburg has a variety of fun activity centers. Here are a handful of BYU-Idaho students' top choices:
- The Basement: The Basement is a local downtown venue that hosts late-night concerts featuring local bands and artists.
- Arcade: Rexburg has two well-known arcades: FatCats and Fizz Rizz. FatCats offers movies, bowling, mini golf, and an extensive arcade. Fizz Rizz is Rexburg's only late-night mocktail bar and arcade.

- Paint Night: The Splatter Lab offers paint classes and splatter painting labs.
- Jump Park: Show off your skills at Gravity Factory, or just enjoy spending time with friends.
- Rock Climbing: There are several outdoor rock climbing areas near Rexburg, but if you don't have much time or money to spend on gear, try out The Rock Gym.
- Theatre: FatCats, Paramount 5, and the Teton Vu Drive-In offer the latest releases.
Walk Around the Rexburg Farmer's Market
Mark your calendar! The city's Farmer's Market is held at the Madison County Fairgrounds Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m.
This event runs through the summer and continues into the fall semester. With a bunch of different vendors offering local honey, homegrown produce, handmade novelties, and lots of homemade food options, you can see your community's talent up close at the Rexburg Farmer's Market.
